The Cabinet has approved awarding the contract for the construction of new departure terminal facilities at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.

The project includes a new building with 36 check-in counters and six boarding gates connecting the departure terminal to aircraft.

The contract has been awarded to Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd. for US$7.26 million and Rs. 3.77 billion, excluding Value Added Tax, following an international competitive bidding process.
