The U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka announced that its X account will only post urgent safety and security alerts during the U.S. Government shutdown caused by a lapse in appropriations.

Scheduled passport and visa services in the U.S. and overseas missions will continue as permitted, while regular updates will resume once full operations are restored.
