The Department of Registration of Persons (DRP) announced that the issuance of electronic national identity cards (NICs) will begin in the first few weeks of December.

According to the Department, the new cards used for the E-NICs were already received, with a batch of approximately 2.3 million cards ordered from a Finnish company.

The DRP also added that the new electronic NICs will include biometrics, as part of the new system.
