Sri Lanka will not approve of war in any form and firmly stands for world peace, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said today (2).

Addressing a special media briefing at the Government Information Department, the Minister stated that Sri Lanka’s position is clear to call for an immediate end to the conflict and to promote global peace and stability.

He warned that the escalating war could have serious repercussions on world peace, regional stability and the global economy.

Minister Jayatissa further noted that the government has taken steps to ensure the safety of nearly one million Sri Lankans residing in the Middle East.

He added that measures have also been implemented to safeguard foreigners currently living in Sri Lanka.
