Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated that Sri Lanka will consider national interests, security and public safety when deciding how to respond to Iranian vessels near Sri Lankan waters.
He noted that the vessels are currently in international waters and not within Sri Lanka’s 12-nautical-mile territorial waters.
Jayatissa stated that Sri Lanka will consider the possibility of US secondary sanctions but will not make decisions based on pressure from either side.
