A proposal seeking approval to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee to study the 1983 Black July tragedy and its impact is scheduled to be presented in Parliament today (3).

The committee is expected to submit recommendations on promoting national reconciliation and providing relief to those affected.

Meanwhile, Parliament will hold an adjournment debate on the impact of the ongoing Middle East conflict on Sri Lanka from 11.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

The Opposition’s no-confidence motion against the Speaker will not be taken up today, as a revised motion has not been resubmitted following instructions to amend certain provisions.
