The Canadian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Isabelle Catherine Martin highlighted the importance of the effective implementation of official language policies to ensure inclusivity and equal opportunities for all citizens, noting the potential for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support translation and communication. She made these observations when she paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya on Monday (15) at Temple Trees.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, Wang Dongming has arrived in Sri Lanka on Tuesday (16) on a three-day official visit. Dongming called on President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (17) where he reaffirmed the full support of the Chinese Government for Sri Lanka’s economic and social development. The President also requested the Chinese Government to extend technical assistance for the restoration and reconstruction of the damaged railway network.
