Env. Minister attends world sustainable development summit in India

Minister of Environment Dammika Patabendi visited India from 24 to 27 February, 2026, to participate in the 25th World Sustainable Development Summit held in New Delhi.


The summit, organised by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in partnership with India’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, was held under the theme “Transformations:

Vision, Voices and Values for Sustainable Development.”


The Minister attended the inaugural session on 25 Februaryand joined the Special Ministerial Plenary titled “Multilateralism as a Force for Hope and Impact” the following day.


On the sidelines, he engaged in a roundtable discussion with Indian stakeholders on environmental policy, technological cooperation and private-sector engagement.


He also toured TERI’s Research and Development Centre in Gurugram, gaining exposure to biotechnology and emerging green technologies.
