The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for severe lightning in the Kalutara, Ratnapura, Galle and Matara districts. The warning, issued at 12.30 p.m. today (13), will remain in effect until 11.00 p.m.

Thundershowers with severe lightning and temporary strong winds are expected in some areas. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage from lightning.
