CAA raids over 450 pharmacies this year

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has raided 471 pharmacies islandwide so far this year, with courts imposing fines totalling Rs. 2.27 million for violations.


The CAA stated that 362 pharmacies were inspected between January and June, while a further 109 were raided on 3 and 4 August, with 86 violations detected.


Expired medicines and other medical and consumer products were among the items seized during the raids.


The CAA urged consumers to check expiry dates, labels and mandatory information before purchasing medicines and health-related products.
