The third day of the “Walk for Peace” pilgrimage commenced this morning (24) in front of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy.

Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya and the Maha Sangha of both monastic chapters participated in today’s event, which is part of the campaign’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and unity.

Leading the peace walk is the Most Venerable Pannakara Thero, who previously undertook a 110-day peace journey across ten states in the United States, from Texas to Washington. He arrived in Sri Lanka alongside members of the Maha Sangha to guide this spiritual walk.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, before the start of the third day’s pilgrimage, PM Harini Amarasuriya and the Maha Sangha, including Venerable Pannakara Thero, paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic and engaged in religious observances.

Following this, the monks chanted pirith and invoked blessings from a specially set-up platform near the Pattirippuwa of the Temple.

The walk, which began in Dambulla and is heading towards Colombo, will conclude at the Vidyawardhana Pirivena Pothgul Viharaya in Mawanella on 28 April.
