Vice Admiral Damian Fernando has been appointed as the new Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

He previously served as Chief of Staff of the Navy and has been promoted to Vice Admiral as the 27th Navy Commander.

The appointment letter was handed over today (30) at the Presidential Secretariat by Secretary to the President Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.

He will assume duties from 1 July following the retirement of the current Navy Commander.
