The National People’s Power (NPP) has gained control of the Kolonnawa Urban Council after a dramatic session saw nine opposition members walk out. 

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Susil Kumara remained and supported the National People’s Power (NPP) , enabling Dhammika Wijayamuni to be elected Chairman. 

In Kuliyapitiya, SJB’s Gamini Karunaratne was elected Chairman, with United National Party (UNP)’s Wilfred Silva as Deputy.
