Actor-turned-politician, former MP of the ruling Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Uddika Premarathne, who had recently left for Canada with his family following his resignation from Parliament, had returned to Sri Lanka last week. 

Premarathne and his family members had arrived in Sri Lanka on Thursday (28) morning on board an Emirates Airlines flight.

Premarathne had earlier denied media reports that he had fled the country after resigning from Parliament and was seeking asylum in Canada, saying that he would return to the country.

Premarathne was expected to attend last week’s ‘Sarasaviya Film Awards’ ceremony.
