The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority says tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka have surpassed 850,000 so far this year.
According to the SLTDA, 277,327 arrivals were recorded in January and 279,328 in February, showing a notable increase compared to previous years.
However, arrivals declined to 183,979 in March 2026, with the drop attributed to ongoing tensions in the Middle East. April figures also remained lower, with 117,893 arrivals recorded.
Despite the slowdown, total tourist arrivals reached 858,527 by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
The highest number of visitors this year have arrived from India, the United Kingdom, Russia, China, and Germany.
