The Excise Department stated today (28) that the production of alcohol at two of the country’s main distilleries has been temporarily halted
The reason for the temporary halt is due to their failure to pay taxes on time.
Accordingly, alcohol production at W. M. Mendis & Co Ltd and Randenigala Distilleries Lanka (Pvt) Ltd are the two distilleries that have been halted.
