Newly appointed Colombo Mayor Vraie Cally Balthazaar pledged to make Colombo one of the most developed cities globally, following her swearing-in as the 26th Mayor of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC). 

Elected through a secret ballot with 61 votes, Balthazaar emphasised unity, transparency, and immediate action on city issues. 

She urged all 117 council members to work beyond party lines to bring real change to Colombo.
