Sri Lanka is poised to launch Starlink satellite internet services, having completed all necessary Government approvals and regulatory requirements, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne confirmed.

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting in Singapore at the Asia Tech x Summit 2025, where Weeraratne met with the U.S. Ambassador Stephan Lang, Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy.

Weeraratne stated that the country is now only waiting for final dashboard data from Starlink to proceed with the operational rollout.

The discussions also explored deeper digital cooperation, including the U.S. support in AI integration, cybersecurity, local data centres, and collaborations with tech giants like Google and Meta.

Ambassador Lang reaffirmed the United States' commitment to accelerating Sri Lanka’s digital advancement.
