Claims on social media that Nuwara Eliya town is submerged are false, District Secretary Thushari Tennakoon stated.

She clarified that no flood situation has been reported in or around the town despite adverse weather.

Landslide early warnings remain in effect for Walapane, Nildandhahinna and Mathurata.

Officials and security forces have informed residents and taken precautionary steps, with all sectors placed on alert, she noted.
