Sri Lanka will reportedly witness its first transgender politician when Socialist Party of Sri Lanka Women’s Affairs Secretary Chanu Nimesha contests the upcoming Parliamentary Elections.

Nimesha, who is a transgender candidate, is contesting from the Kegalle District.

“I’m thankful to the Socialist Party of Sri Lanka for making history by fielding the country’s first transgender candidate at the upcoming elections,” Nimesha told the media recently.
