The Department of Meteorology noted that the atmospheric disturbance over the Bay of Bengal has developed into a low-pressure area.

Issuing an amber advisory, the Met Department stated that the system is currently located near 10.1N and 82.5E.

Showery conditions across Sri Lanka are expected to continue, while strong winds and rough seas are likely in sea areas around the island and the Bay of Bengal.

The public, naval and fishing communities have been requested to remain alert to future weather forecasts and advisories.
