The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ advisory for severe lightning in several parts of the country until 11.00 p.m. today(07).

Thundershowers with severe lightning are expected in Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, and in Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Mannar, Vavuniya and Mullaitivu districts after 2.00 p.m.

Temporary strong winds may occur during thundershowers.

The public has been advised to take precautions to minimise damage.
