- A historic Ceylon Golf League partnership
In a landmark moment for Sri Lankan golf, Fintrex Finance PLC has signed a three-year partnership with the Hambantota Tuskers, one of the eight franchises of the inaugural Ceylon Golf League (CGL).
The announcement, made at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) on 21 November, marks a significant step in elevating golf in the country.
The CGL, the brainchild of cricketing legend Mahela Jayawardena, along with Shamal Perera and Suhayb Sangani, introduces a league-style format to Sri Lankan golf, inspired by global sporting models such as the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Lanka Premier League (LPL).
Eight franchises, each with its unique identity and roster, will compete to showcase the finest golfing talent the nation has to offer.
The Hambantota Tuskers is owned by visionary tech entrepreneur Sanjeewa Wickramanayake, Rohan Amirthiah, and Avancka Herat, who are all among a distinguished group of shareholders.
The Tuskers, managed by Chandana Weerasinghe and captained by Chalitha Pushpika, are set to compete in the league’s inaugural season, which will tee off from 5–7 December at the RCGC. The tournament will feature a dynamic format including foursome, indies, and fourball competitions, testing strategy, precision, and teamwork.
The team comprises a plethora of talented gentleman and lady golfers, each with extensive experience and numerous accolades to their names. Their combined expertise, international exposure, and competitive spirit promise a high-octane display of skill and determination, setting the stage for a thrilling first season.

Speaking at the launch, Fintrex Finance Chairman Ajit Gunewardene highlighted the shared vision of both organisations in fostering the sport and creating new opportunities for players.
