The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has expressed serious concern over misleading statements being spread by certain individuals and organizations.

The Commission said such false claims, circulated through electronic, print, and social media, damage its reputation, distract from ongoing investigations, and create misconceptions about its independent operations.

CIABOC emphasized that it operates under constitutional powers granted by the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, acting independently and without bias. 

While acknowledging freedom of expression, the Commission warned that it cannot be misused to spread falsehoods that hinder justice or undermine public trust.

The Commission stated it will take legal action against those disseminating propaganda or attempting to discredit its work. 

CIABOC reaffirmed its commitment to impartial investigations and urged the public to remain vigilant against attempts to mislead them.
