The Ministry of Transport and Highways has announced plans to implement automated payment systems at expressway toll gates before the end of this year. 

Sumudu Rathnayaka, an advisor to the Ministry, mentioned that the procurement process for the project will begin in the coming weeks. 

The new system aims to reduce traffic congestion at toll points and offer a more efficient and convenient service for commuters. 

Officials expect the automation to streamline toll collection and improve overall travel experience across the country’s expressway network.
