The National Transport Commission(NTC) stated that a proposal to increase bus fares will be presented to the Cabinet today (23).

The NTC noted that the revision, exceeding 10%, follows the recent increase in diesel prices.

Director General Nilan Miranda stated that Cabinet approval has been sought to implement the new fare structure.

Bus unions have warned of possible service withdrawals over delays in the fare revision.
