The Department of Meteorology warns that the heat index may reach cautionary levels today in parts of the Eastern, Northern, Northwestern, North-Central provinces, and Monaragala district.

The public, especially outdoor workers, are advised to stay hydrated, rest in shaded areas, and take extra care of the elderly and those with health issues.
