The fifth Commercial High Court (HC) in the country is set to commence operations today (23) marking a significant development in the country’s judicial system. 

The new High Court is located within the Hulftsdorp Court Complex, a central hub for judicial activities.

The establishment of this additional Commercial High Court aims to streamline the handling of commercial litigation, facilitating faster and more efficient resolution of business disputes. 

The creation of the new court aligns with recommendations from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), highlighting its importance in fostering a more conducive environment for economic growth and ease of doing business.

This is the second Commercial High Court to be established since Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena took office.
