The team representing Sri Lanka in the Shothoryu International Karate Tournament held at Hatteras, Delhi, India won seven gold medals, 14 silver medals, and nine bronze medals while also winning the championship of the entire tournament.
Following this tournament, the team, appearing for the International Karate Championship, won 24 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 18 bronze medals in both the “Katha” and “Kumite” divisions, managing to win the overall championship in this tournament as well.
Sachitha Dulane, a Grade 1 student of Ratnapura Pathakada Buddhist Maha Vidyalaya, who represented Sri Lanka, was felicitated for his excellent performance by winning four gold medals, as he was also the youngest player who participated in the tournament.
The Chief Manager in charge of these teams was Sri Lanka Karate Do Federation Ratnapura District President and Sri Lanka Japanese Karate Do World Shotokan Karate Association Director, Chief Advisor, and Grade Inspector N.S. Dhammika.
