Sri Lanka’s Nipuni Wasana secured the gold medal in the Beach Wrestling - Women’s 50kg event at the 6th Asian Beach Games held in Sanya, China. 

Wasana defeated Vietnam’s Doan Thi Kim Oanh in the final to earn the top podium position.

So far, Sri Lanka has earned a total of seven medals at these Games, including a silver and three bronze medals in Beach Athletics, as well as a silver and bronze in Beach Kabaddi events.

China leads the medal tally with 21 gold medals, followed by Thailand with nine and Iran with four. 

The 6th Asian Beach Games, which began on 22 April, is set to conclude tomorrow, bringing together athletes from across Asia to compete in various beach sports.
