Sri Lanka has identified thirty-five malaria cases and recorded one fatality so far this year, according to the Anti Malaria Campaign.

The cases have been reported mainly among individuals returning from abroad. 

The country was officially declared malaria-free in 2016.

Dr Indeewarie Gunaratna, Consultant Community Physician, noted that the public can contact 071 284 1767 for further information about the disease.
