An unknown person has broken into the Moragahahena Sub-Post Office and stolen Rs. 474,000 after forcing open a safe, police stated.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the money had been brought to the office for payment of the elder’s allowance.

The incident is reported to have occurred on June 19 night. Police have launched further investigations.
