The Cabinet has approved a joint proposal to implement live biometric passport application processing for Sri Lankans abroad. 

With financial support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the initiative will set up biometric centers at 20 Sri Lankan missions/consulates worldwide. 

The project aims to expedite e-passport issuance through real-time coordination with the Immigration Department, enabling overseas Sri Lankans to apply swiftly using digital technology.
