K. M. Mahinda Sirivardhana has officially assumed his role today (25) as the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, Policy Formulation, Planning, and Tourism. 

Senior officials from the Ministry attended the ceremony. 

Sirivardhana previously served as the Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, and Bhutan, playing a key role in securing credit facilities and managing debt restructuring. 

He holds a Master's degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Kelaniya, with extensive international training in public economic management and related fields.
