Thousands of Buddhist devotees gathered at temples and sacred sites across Sri Lanka today (29) to observe Poson Poya.

Large crowds visited the sacred cities of Anuradhapura and Mihintale for religious observances, including Sil, almsgiving and devotional ceremonies.

Religious and cultural programmes were also held at Ruwanwelisaya, with devotees taking part in Poson celebrations throughout the day.
