The Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka stated that the warm weather currently affecting many parts of Sri Lanka is expected to continue until mid-April.

The Department noted that relatively low wind speeds are contributing to higher temperatures felt by the human body.

People engaged in strenuous outdoor work were advised to stay alert about their health and drink plenty of water.

Teachers were also urged to pay attention to schoolchildren during sports activities.

The highest temperature recorded during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. today (06) was 36.4°C in Ratnapura.

The lowest temperature was 8.1°C at the Nuwara Eliya Meteorological Station.
