Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) officials carried out raids at the Dambulla Economic Centre yesterday (7) as part of an islandwide crackdown on the sale of rice at inflated prices.
During the inspections, several shops were found selling rice above the approved rates, failing to display prices, and violating consumer protection laws.
Authorities announced that legal action will be taken against traders who breach the law.
The CAA emphasised that ongoing raids will continue to protect consumers from unfair pricing practices and ensure compliance with regulations across the country.
