The Irrigation Department has warned of a significant risk of flash flooding across several parts of the country due to ongoing heavy rainfall.

According to the department, a low-pressure system near the South Andaman Sea could bring rainfall exceeding 200 mm to the Northern, North Central, Eastern, Southern, Uva, and Western provinces, with notable rainfall expected elsewhere as well.

Residents in low-lying river basin areas and those travelling through vulnerable regions have been urged to remain alert and take necessary precautions from today (25) until November 30.
