Sri Lanka Police say 100 passenger buses have been detected allegedly operating on kerosene instead of diesel following island-wide inspections.

Police said investigations are underway and legal action has been initiated, while fuel samples from several other buses have been sent to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) for analysis.

Authorities also urged fuel station owners not to supply unusual quantities of kerosene for use in buses and warned that inspections will continue.
