President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will visit the Northern Province to attend Thai Pongal celebrations in Velanai, Jaffna, and take part in a special event organized by the Jaffna Tourism Bureau at the Manipay Marutady Vinayagar Kovil to promote tourism.

During the visit, the President will also inaugurate the national housing program “A Place of One’s Own – A Beautiful Life,” aimed at building 31,218 houses islandwide, including 2,500 homes for war-affected families in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

The ceremony will be held at the Weerasingham Primary School grounds in Chavakachcheri.

In addition, the Northern Province leg of the “Ratama Ekata – A Nation United” national anti-drug operation will take place tomorrow at the Jaffna College of Technology grounds under the President’s patronage.
