Sri Lanka Marine Corps personnel have taken part in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise currently being held in Hawaii, alongside military forces from 28 other countries. The multinational maritime exercise brings together naval and marine forces to enhance coordination and readiness. Sri Lankan Marines engaged in training with the United States Navy, Marine Corps and other international forces in areas including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, urban search and rescue, helicopter operations, and responses to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear incidents. The joint training will help improve interoperability among participating forces and strengthen the capacity of partner countries to respond to emergencies and regional crises. The exercise is part of broader efforts by Indo-Pacific nations to build stronger partnerships and maintain preparedness for humanitarian and security challenges.
