Deputy Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development R. M. Jayawardena stated that 31 Lanka Sathosa outlets across the island were closed between January 2024 and October 2025.
He made the statement in Parliament today (08) in response to a question raised by MP Chanaka Madugoda.
The Deputy Minister stated that 424 Lanka Sathosa outlets were operating islandwide as of 17 August this year.
He also noted that Lanka Sathosa was incurring losses of Rs. 24 billion when the current government assumed office, with accumulated debt of Rs. 11 billion and a bank overdraft of Rs. 5 billion.
