Several spells of showers are forecast for the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces and for the Hambantota and Matale districts today(04). 

The Department of Meteorology said showers or thundershowers will develop in most other areas after 1.00 p.m. 

Fairly heavy falls of about 75 mm are likely in parts of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces. 

Misty conditions are expected in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North-Central provinces and in the Kurunegala and Vavuniya districts during early morning. 

The public has been advised to take precautions against strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
