The Labour Ministry has ordered a full investigation into the fire at a helmet manufacturing factory in Katuwana, Homagama, which killed five people.

Deputy Labour Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe instructed officials to examine the cause of the fire, workplace safety standards and compliance with relevant regulations.

Police stated five bodies were recovered from the factory, while rescue operations are continuing.
