The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Pretoria, led by High Commissioner Air Chief Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa (Retd.), held a tourism promotion event at the Rosebank Sunday Market in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 30 August, showcasing the country’s attractions to an international audience.
According to the High Commission, the event promoted Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage, natural attractions, wildlife, cuisine and other travel experiences to visitors at the popular Johannesburg market.
Sri Lankan tourism promotional material was distributed during the event, while visitors also expressed interest in travelling to Sri Lanka and shared their plans to visit the country.
Members of the diplomatic community, South African business community and Sri Lankan community also attended the event, which the High Commission said provided an opportunity to promote Sri Lanka as a tourism destination and strengthen people-to-people ties.
The High Commission said the event drew strong engagement from visitors and helped raise awareness of Sri Lanka’s tourism offerings among potential travellers in South Africa and beyond.
It said it would continue efforts to promote Sri Lanka’s tourism sector and increase awareness of the country’s attractions and experiences among South African and international audiences.
