Sri Lanka has been ranked among the countries with the lowest terror threats in the world, according to the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) 2025.
The country secured the 100th spot out of 163 nations, with a GTI score of zero, indicating no recorded terrorist attacks in the past 5 years. Sri Lanka shares this ranking with 63 other countries, including Bhutan, making it the lowest-ranked nation in South Asia for terrorism threats.
Accordingly, the GTI report highlights Sri Lanka as the most improved South Asian country, having dropped 64 spots in the index within a year. This decline in terrorist activity has contributed to the region's overall improvement, despite rising threats in Pakistan.
The GTI, produced by the Institute for Economics & Peace, is a key global resource analyzing terrorism trends based on incidents, fatalities, injuries, and socioeconomic factors.
