The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers and thundershowers in several parts of Sri Lanka today (30), with heavy rainfall expected in some areas.

Several spells of showers are expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Galle and Matara districts. A few showers are also possible in the North-Western Province.

Showers or thundershowers are expected after 1.00 p.m. in the Central, Uva and Eastern provinces, as well as the Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts. Rainfall exceeding 50 mm is possible in some locations.

Mainly fair weather is expected elsewhere. The public has been advised to take precautions against lightning and temporary localised strong winds.
