The Department of Census and Statistics reported that Colombo’s year-on-year inflation, measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index, dropped to 1.6% in February 2026 from 2.3% in January.

Food inflation fell sharply to 0.2% from 3.3%, while non-food inflation rose to 2.3% from 1.8% over the same period.
