A 35-year-old Chinese national has been arrested in Kollupitiya with 540 sticks of foreign cigarettes, police said.

The arrest was made near Nimalka Gardens during a raid by the Colombo South Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit.

Police said the cigarettes were allegedly brought into Sri Lanka illegally.

Kollupitiya Police are conducting further investigations.
