The National Transport Commission (NTC) has announced that bus fares will remain unchanged despite the recent rise in fuel prices.
Nilan Miranda, Director General of the NTC, explained that the increase in diesel prices effective from midnight yesterday (09) does not warrant a revision of the current bus fare structure. As a result, the existing fares will continue to be in effect for commuters.
Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (Ceypetco) announced a significant revision of fuel prices, also effective from midnight yesterday, in response to rising global fuel prices due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
The new fuel prices are as follows:
Auto Diesel – Rs. 303 (up Rs. 22)
Super Diesel – Rs. 353 (up Rs. 24)
Petrol 92 Octane – Rs. 317 (up Rs. 24)
Petrol 95 Octane – Rs. 365 (up Rs. 25)
Kerosene – Rs. 195 (up Rs. 13)
